BTRC is dedicated to improving and promoting the welfare of retired race horses through education, rehabilitation, retraining and suitable rehoming in order to ensure that our Thoroughbreds have a rewarding and valuable life after their racing careers have ended. Work Rider

We are looking for a competent rider to assist in the retraining of retired Thoroughbreds to enable a timely transfer between racing and equestrian disciplines. The Work Rider will work alongside the Yard Manager, supporting her in retraining the horses to ensure they are produced to an appropriate standard that allows them to enter the rehoming programme.

The ideal candidate must be a competent rider with at least 5 years of previous experience of riding young/difficult horses and/or breaking in. You must be hard working, reliable and be comfortable working as part of a team yet have good initiative and be able to take the lead when required. You may also be asked to help out with yard duties from time to time.

  • 40 hours per week to include weekends (hours can be discussed with the right candidate).
  • 28 days annual leave
  • National Minimum Wage
  • Opportunities for staff CPD and in house training.

Stable Staff

We are looking for an experienced groom to join BTRC as a stable staff member. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, reliable and passionate about Thoroughbred welfare, is experienced and competent in all aspects of yard duties such as mucking out, feeding, turning out, grooming etc. Experience of handling challenging horses is preferred but not essential.

  • 40 hours per week to include weekends (hours can be discussed with the right candidate).
